alt.support.cancer.breast is dedicated to supporting breast cancer patients, survivors and the people who love them.

Faced with a diagnosis of cancer many find themselves deserted by friends and colleagues, who understandably fear cancer and would rather not think about their own mortality or the fact that "There but for the grace of God go I". In this group everyone has looked death in the face and can talk about it. Doctors are famously poor communicators. In this group newcomers may find people who have been through a similar experience to themselves and who can give confidence to face what lies ahead. In the newsgroup you'll find a rare mix of courage and humor, anger and fear and more than a few people in different places on the road through breast cancer.

The photo and bio pages are now obsolete due to the ubiquity of user-generated content sites (such as YouTube, MySpace and FaceBook). These pages are therefore no longer supported, and the update mechanisms will be removed.

Usenet is a loosely organized (well, sometimes completely disorganized) community of people who share common interests. There are thousands of discussion groups on the Internet that comprise Usenet.
